Days of My Work at Home Life

Five a.m. I can hear the alarm ring,
So early ~ birds are barely chirping.
Hardly feel like I got any sleep and
Already time to make the coffee.
The boy’s up and in the shower,
“Do you want some breakfast?”
“Don’t forget,” he says on his way
Out the door, headed to the bus.
Oh my gosh, look at the clock,
It’s time to get to business.
Calls to make, more to take,
Emails past the point of return.
Letters to type, ads to write
And events you must attend.
The phone is ringing.
What’s that truck? It’s UPS.
It’s days like this when working at home,
You’re glad you decided to dress.
It’s three already, holy cow.
Is there practice or a game?
Check the date, don’t be late,
There’s nothing more he hates.
While cooking dinner,
Some laundry gets done,
Dust and sweep too, doesn’t take long.
Okay, the house looks great,
It’s now going on ten,
“Brush your teeth, it’s getting late,”
“Love you too,”
And off to bed he went.
Quiet finally, peace in the house,
Shut out the lights,
Head back to the office.
Only a little more to do,
Just a couple more hours
And I’m through…

For today.
